Project Overview

This website makes it easy for users to discover and learn about historical landmarks in their city. The key features of the website include suggesting nearby landmarks and alerting users when they are close to historical sites. We also provide directions to these sites, and allow users to create a list of their favorite landmarks using our 'favoriting' feature.

Persona

Users: Tourists

What they are trying to achieve: They want to explore the area that they are visiting by going to historical landmarks.

Design Process

Color Palette

I selected this color palette with blues and shades of orange to evoke the colors you might see on vacation. The blues symbolize the ocean and the oranges represent the warmth of the sun. The colors are vibrant yet muted, creating a subtle contrast between them.

Prototyping

  1. Paper sketches
  2. Low-fidelity wireframes with variations
  3. User experiments with Low-fidelity wireframes

Takeaways

Through this project, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of the principles and techniques of web design. I learned how to effectively use the size of the page to create a visually appealing and user-friendly experience for the viewer. For example, I learned how to balance the placement and sizing of elements such as text, images, and buttons, to create a cohesive and visually balanced design. Overall, this project has helped me develop valuable skills and knowledge that I can apply to future web design projects.
